Carry-on Baggage

WestJet does not prescribe any weight limit for the hand or carry-on baggage. However, it does require the passengers to carry light weight baggage. However, it does prescribe the dimension limits for the luggage and requires passengers to adhere to these limits. If these dimensional limits are exceeded, the baggage is taken as a check-in baggage and then the fee applies.

Every passenger is permitted 1 free piece of Carry on luggage and 1 personal item.

Check-in Baggage Allowance

The Checked baggage policy of WestJet has been revised for those who have purchased tickets post August 24th for travel within Canada and post August 28th for other destinations. The updates charges are mentioned ahead.

The fees for check-in baggage depends on whether WestJet Flights or WestJet Vacations have been booked. It also depends on number of check-in bags being carried in plane. The frequent flyer members are allowed some special privileges in check-in baggage depending on their membership status.

Checked Baggage Fees for 'WestJet Flights'

• For tickets booked before Aug 24th for flights in Canada and before August 28th for flights outside Canada.

First check-in bag- 25 CAD/USD

Second check-in bag- 35 CAD/USD

• For tickets booked before Aug 24th for flights in Canada and before August 28th for flights outside Canada.

First Bag 25 CAD/USD

Additional Allowance for Frequent Flyers Members

• For tickets booked before Aug 24th for flights in Canada. For tickets before August 28th for flights outside Canada.

Excess Baggage Policy

Apart from other applicable baggage fees:

• each overweight piece of luggage (more than 23 kg but less than 45 kg) would be charged a fee of 75-88.50 CAD/USD.

• any oversized piece of luggage (more than 158 cm but less than 203 cm in sum of dimensions) would be charged a fee of 75-88.50 CAD/USD.

Please note that the oversized baggage is not allowed on WestJet for flights to/from Jamaica or Trinidad & Tobago ( though one golf bag having clubs is allowed)

Infant Policy

Children under the age of two would be considered as Lap Infants.

For an Infant travelling in lap 2 pieces of Infant equipment could be carried for no charge. THis equipment can be a stroller or a playpen.

For a fare paying infant one piece of infant equipment could be carried for no charge apart from the checked baggage allowance.
