jetBlue Baggage Allowance

Check-in Baggage

The check-in baggage allowance for the JetBlue Airlines depends on fare classes.

There are four different fare choices- Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Flex and Mint.

The charges or free allowance for 1st, 2nd and 3rd bag onwards are mentioned below:

For carrying 3rd or more check-in bags, the charges are $150 per bag. 

Check in bag shall not be more than 50 lbs (23 kg) in weight and 62 inches in linear dimensions (158cm).When flying to destination such as Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin in Colombia, Kingston in Jamaica, Lima in Peru, Mexico City in Mexico, Port-au-Prince in Haiti, Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, Santo Domingo and Santiago in Dominican Republic and Quito in Ecuador.

For overweight bags of more than 23 kg but less than 45 kg, the charge is $150 per bag.

For oversized bags of more than 62 inches (158 cm) and up to 80 inches (203 cm), charge is $150 per bag.

It has been specifically mentioned by the airline that boxes will not be allowed as check in baggage on international flights.

Passengers with the check-in baggage are requested to be present at the airport well within the check in timelines. Bags shall be checked in at least 40 minutes before departure of domestic flights and 60 minutes before departure of international flights. Bags will be accepted for check-in more than 6 hrs before flight departure.

Check in luggage requirements for Dominican Republic (DR), Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago (T&T):

  • Only 2 check-in bags per passenger. 1 bag dimension shall be 158 cm and 32kg weight.
  • Bags of more weigh, size or number will not be accepted on flights

Check In Luggage Requirement for Peru

  • Only 1 check in bag of 158 cms dimension and 32 kg weight allowed.
  • 2nd bag will carry fee.
  • No more than 2 bags can be checked-in.
  • Overweight and oversize fee to be applicable.

Carry-On Baggage

Passengers can bring one carry-on baggage and an additional personal item on their JetBlue flights.

Size of each cabin bag shall not exceed 56cm, 35cm and 23cm.

Size of personal items shall not exceed 43cm, 33cm and 20cm.

Sporting Equipments

  • Golf: If within weight limits, no extra charge for being oversized. 1 golf bag would include 14 clubs, 3 balls and one pair of golf shoes.
  • Cycles: Accepted on both domestic and international flights. A fee of USD 50 to be paid each way per bike. It will be taken as a part of check in baggage. Shall be properly encased and foam padded.

An interesting exception is that the overweight baggage policy will not be applicable for carriage of bicycles. However, case containing bicycles shall not weigh more than 99 pounds. Bicycles not allowed to/from DR, Haiti, Peru and Port of Spain.

  • Skateboards are accepted as a part of check in baggage
  • Ski boards and snow board equipment allowed except on flights to or from DR. Considered part of check in baggage. Size limits are relaxed but weight limits shall be followed.  

          1 Ski-board equipment= 1 pair of skis+1 pair of ski boots+1 pair of ski poles 

          1 snow-board equipment= 1 snow board+ 1 pair of boots

  • 1 fishing equipment is a part of check-in baggage allowance. It includes 2 rods, 1 reel, 1 landing net, 1 pair of boots and 1 fishing tackle box. Size limits are relaxed but weight limits shall be observed.
  • Tennis racket allowed in carry-on baggage and is considered one hand baggage.
  • Surfboards of more than 100 lbs are not accepted. These shall be packed in hard-sided case. These entail a fee of USD 50 per case per way. These are not accepted from Bermuda, Port of Spain, Haiti, Peru, Santo Domingo and Santiago. However, these are accepted on flights to/from Punta Cana and Puerto Plata.

I am a jet privilege member having JP no. 188598303 I would like to know how much free luggage will be allowed to me if i am travelling from Vadodara to Mumbai with my wife.
