Vietnam Airlines Baggage Allowance

Vietnam Airlines allows carriage of cabin and check-in baggage by passengers. It allows free baggage allowances for cabin and check-in baggage.

Each piece of check-in bag shall not weigh more than 32 kg and shall be of size not exceeding 203 cm in sum of dimensions.

Each piece of cabin bag shall be less than 7 kg in weight and sum of dimensions less than 115 cm (36 by 23 by 56 cm).

Cabin Baggage Allowance

Economy Class - 1 cabin bag +1 personal item

Business and First Class- 2 cabin bags + 1 personal item

Additional personal item which can be taken in flight could be either of the following:

Ladies purse
Umbrella
Walking stick
Reading material for in-flight purpose only
Laptop computer
Overcoat, blanket, wrap
Small camera or binocular
Crutches or walking aid
Infant’s carrying basket

Case of Connecting flights

If flights are operated by other airlines, then the baggage allowance policies of that carrier may apply. This will be reflected on the ticket issued to you.

For flight routes to/from Americas, the policy of first marketing carrier will be applicable all through the journey.

Pre-paid Excess Baggage and Charges

Passengers can pay excess baggage charges online or at the Vietnam Airlines Ticketing offices at discounted rates.

The pre-paid excess baggage is applicable only for non-infant passenger, on flight operated by Vietnam airlines only and has to be bought at least 6 hours before the scheduled time of departure of flight.

It has to be bought in slabs of 5 kg or 10 kg with maximum 10 slabs (max 100 kgs).

Pre-paid baggage is not applicable for small ATR 72 airplanes even if the domestic flights are being flown.

Pre-paid baggage charges are not refundable, except when itinerary originates in Korea and baggage lies totally unused.
