Hi Sir, My flight is booked from Mumbai to Sydney by thai airways . I am carrying Gutair with me which weigh around 2kg x length 102cm & plus handbag 5kg, am i allowed to bring both in cabin.

Admin Reply :

You will be allowed to carry it in cabin only if it meets cabin bag size requirements, specially the length. You guitar length is 102 cm which is more than 100 cm allowed in checkin for free. So, you might be asked to pay extra charge if the airline officials at the airport do not ignore this.

WEight is total of 23 kg (10+13 kg). so that is not a problem. Size of 190 could be an issue as you might have to pay $150.

this 32 kg upper weight limit applies when travelling from Pakistan to Australia as well? what is upper weight limit for carry-in baggage (if any)? also curious no such thing is available on website. it says max limit is 30Kg on economy class can you clarify?

Admin Reply :

30 kg is the free allowance, but the max weight you can keep in check-in bag is 32 kg. If some passenger has a 40 kg free allowance, he will have to put this in 2 bags because one can not be more than 32 kg (for ease of handling at the airport).

hello how much will cost 2nd bag from Sydney to Bangkok economy class

Admin Reply :

Baggage allowance on Thai for your route of travel is not based on number of pieces of check in bags, but on the basis of weight. So, your allowance for economy class travel is 35 kg in check-in baggage. If you want to carry more than this weight, then there is a charge. And, this charge is USD 45 per excess kg if you pay at airport. If you pay online, airlines generally provide some discount.

How can i buy extra beg online, trying from two days however not able to buy, my flight is on 19th dec'19

Admin Reply :

You have to take following steps:

1. Visit the thai airways website at : https://www.thaiairways.com/en/manage/my_booking.page

2. Enter the booking code and last name, as required.

3. Go on to buy the extra baggage after logging in.

It might be possible that if you have booked tickets with an agency, it might have provided you its own booking reference rather than the airline reference number. And the agency reference number will not work. So, you shall get the airline reference number, If that is not available, you need to add baggage over phone while speaking to customer service agent of the airline.

Hi I'm traveling from Philippines to frankfurt my check in luggage allowance is 30 kg and now my luggage is 33kg now and I was trying to buy excess baggage but the minimum is 5 kg which is 210 usd I only need 3kg and can I use backpack as my personal use and 7 kg for my hand luggage?

Admin Reply :

Charge is USD 70 per excess kg. This can be paid for at airport. Backpack is also considered as a cabin bag, so we suggest that you take either backpack or cabin luggage.

I'm flyng from London Heathrow to Vietnam at the end of this month. My checked-in large suitcase will weigh the full 30kg. How many kg am I allowed for my carry-on luggage? I would like to take 2 items onboard with me - a small carry-on suitcase and also a small backpack of the same size - is this ok? What should the combined weight be? Thank you

Admin Reply :

It is suggested that you take either cabin bag or backpack as cabin luggage. 7 kg is free baggage allowance per passenger.

Hi, I'd like to know if we can have a backpack with us (aside from the 7kg carry-on that has been specified) which'll contain chargers, a laptop, phone etc. I was reading that the backpack counts as a personal item that you can bring along such as a purse etc.

Admin Reply :

Backpack is taken as a cabin bag, not as a personal item.

You have not mentioned the cabin class or fare type booked. Generally, 30 kg is check in baggage allowance for economy class travellers. However, it is less at 20 kg for those who are booked on L,V,W fares.

I AM TRAVELLING FROM KOLKATA-KRABI VIA BKK, AND RETURN FROM PHUKET-BKK AND BKK - CCU. MY FLIGHT NUMBERS ARE TG314 ( CLASS W) , TG241( CLASS W), TG 204( CLASS V), TG313 ( CLASS V). I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE AND CABIN ALLOWANCE. ALSO, LAYOVER TIME IN BKK IS 01:50 HRS, WOULD THAT BE SELF TRANSFER, OR ASSISTED BY AIRLINE.

Admin Reply :

You have not mentioned the cabin class of travel. For economy, allowance is 30 kg in check in baggage, except for bookings done under L, V or W fare classes. You have to check with the airline about through transfer as it depends on where immigration formalities would be completed and whether connection is provided by the airline itself or not.

I am travelling economy to Bangkok, from Auckland, New Zealand, this mid-July. Can I pack the maximum allowable limit of drinking alcohol (spirit) -1 litre- in my checked-in luggage? Or is it required to be purchased from duty-free only? If the latter, how do I carry it on the plane, if I already one carry-on bag. Thanks.

Admin Reply :

You can have liquor in check in baggage if bought from outside. However, if bought from duty-free, you can take it in cabin baggage in a separate sealed plastic bag which is not to be opened and you must have the bill or invoice of purchase to show to authorities.

Your allowance is 20 kg in check in if you have booked L,V or W fare type in Economy class. For other Economy class fare types, the allowance is 30 kg in check-in baggage. Cabin allowance is of 7 kg per passenger for economy clas.

We checked that yours is a W class ticket and this means that you have a 20 kg check in baggage allowance per adult or child passenger.

Sum of dimensions shall be less than 158 cm for TV package. It is not beased on the screen size of the LED TV but on the L+B+H of total TV package. And, to clear one more doubt, we are not Thai Airways and are not related to it as well.

One bike or bicycle is allowed free if it is non-motorised and single seat one and when its size and weight are within permitted allowance limits. We feel the size is more than permitted allowance and therefore, it will entail a charge of USD 150.

Hello. I want to fly from Barcelona to Bangkok, flying with Lufthansa for he first leg of the trip (Barcelona-Frankfurt). I'm carrying a lot of luggage and wonder if you could tell me what it would cost me extra to take it all along. I'll be travelling with a bicycle (in box, 20 kg), a bag (20 kg) and a guitar. I don't know if the guitar can be taken on as hand luggage, but the total exceeds the allowed 30 kg and the bicycle the allowed dimensions. Also, the Lufthansa and Thai airlines flights are sold as connecting flights, supposedly my luggage will go straight through from Barcelona to Bangkok. Doe this mean I will only be charged once for the excess baggage, or will both airlines charge me separately? Thank you very much Aram

Admin Reply :

As per lufthansa rules, the intecontinental flights wherein other carriers are also involved, the baggage allowance policy of the carrier which flies the maximum distance applies. In this case this is Thai Airways. The overweight luggage would then be calculated as per Thai airways baggage allowance rules. However, in order to reconfirm, we would suggest that you also speak to the airline office with which the ticket was booked in the first place. Charges for excess baggage are, in general, sector wise. So, you might have to pay twice. However, depending on the airline agreements among themselves, this can alter. This picture will also be clear when you speak to the airline directly.

Hi, I'm Rahma. I've just bought Phuket-bangkok ticket using thai airways. I've got my e-ticket receipt and there's this message: “Smart Baggage” – blablabla. If carried as checked baggage, the installed batteries must be removed from the baggage at check-in counter and the removed batteries must be carried as carry-on baggage. The dimension of baggage is permitted at maximum length 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches) and thickness 25 cm (10 inches) at the same size of carry-on baggage. Does this mean that even tho I have 20KG baggage allowance, I can not bring any luggage larger than 22inch ? I mean, there should only be 2 luggages checked, ryte? And two 22inch luggages won't usually get weighted 20KG. Can someone explain to me what this actually means?

Admin Reply :

Sum of dimensions shall be considered for check in baggage. It shall be 158 cm in L+B+H and weight shall be less than 20 kg.

The dimensions you are mentioning is that of the cabin bag and the weight allowance for that shall be up to 7 kg. So, it is 1 check in bag and 1 cabin bag.

You are confusing between the two. I hope we have made this clear now.

Our 1st to travel with Thai Airways, my daughter will travel with my 2yrs old grandson on Monday Milan to Manila they have 7k hand carry baggage allowance is it possible that one of therir hand carry will go on together with check in luggage? So she can handle his son better, and she purchase ticket vice versa for both of them just in case my grandson will not come back with her is it possible to use the baggage allowance of his son?! or we refund? on one ticket not use going back? thanks for the answer. God Bleaa

Admin Reply :

At first, generally it is not allowed to club the cabin bag with the check in bag for free. You put the cabin bag along with check in bag but if this increases the weight of check in bag then excess baggage charges will have to be paid. Though this is the general rule, you can still speak to the airline officials at the airport if they permit you to carry it in this way.

Second, baggage allowances are per person. If the baby is not travelling along in return flight, then its allowance will not be counted even if you have bought the ticket.

My husband and I are flying from Milan to the Philippines and we are bringing with us a 40 inches tv,is it allowed as check in luggage? Also can I bring 2 bottles of wine in my luggage? Thanks

Admin Reply :

If the size of the LED TV package is within the permitted allowance limit of check in baggage, it will be allowed as check in baggage. If total weight exceeds allowed limit, it will be charged for. Wine can also be taken but we would suggest that you confirm from local airport and also from the destination country airport. Generally, international travellers carry liquor bought from duty free shops in order to avoid hassles since different airports have different regulations.

You can spread the check in baggage allowance of total 60 kg in three bags with no single check in bag weighing more than 32 kg and size more than 158 cm in sum of dimensions. This clubbing is generally allowed for passengers travelling on same pnr.

Iam emigrating to Australia and I wanted to enquiry whether there is the potential to be allowed an additional 10kg added to my baggage allowance (up to 40kg). I am aware that other airlines offer this and would be grateful if Thai airlines would allow the same. Regards Kevin Hemmings

Please get in touch with the airline directly for this purpose as this information is not available in public domain. You can certainly add more baggage on payment of excess baggage fee. However, if you want it for free, please get in touch with the airline.

Hi. I want to travel from Germany to Bali, via Bangkok. My total luggage is 40kg, which includes 10kg diving equipment. I read on the website, that there is a flat rate for dive equipment, with a unit (10KG) price (flat rate) of 150€. I also read, that it is possible to take extra 1.5kg in an additional hand luggage bag with a computer or similar. My questions: 1: Is it true that there is a special rate for diving equipment which is lower then the normal $60US. 2: If so, I could not find a place on the website where to book it. Could you help? 3: Is it possible to take a second hand luggage bag that only contains computer and weighs up to 1.5kg?

Admin Reply :

Scuba diving equipment can be carried as a part of your free check in baggage allowance, within free allowancce of size and weight limits. If it exceeds free allowance, USD 150 is charged. Additional personal laptop bag can be carried in cabin but it must be a standard laptop bag. You shall contact the local Thai airways office
