In case a domestic flight connects to an international flight and both are operated by Air New Zealand and both are ticketed on same ticket, then international check-in allowance applies to whole journey.
Exceptions: Work fares to Honolulu and Economy fares to Shanghai, Taipei and Singapore have 2 check-in bags.
Infants are allowed to carry 1 carry-on baggage.
If your journey involves flying on Air New Zealand on all legs of journey on a single ticket, or there is an agreement with another airline, then the check-in bags might be checked to the final destination. You are required to get this information at the time of booking tickets.
When you are flying to another country, you might be asked to collect the baggage and complete customs formalities at first port of entry.
On Codeshare flights in which Air New Zealand and another airline are involved, and the journey is ticketed on single ticket, then baggage allowance rule of the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) would apply.
However, there are two exceptions to this rule. First exception is for those single-ticketed journeys whose starting or end point is USA or Canada. In this case, First Marketing Carrier decides the baggage allowances and excess baggage charges.
Second exception is the flight starting in Brazil. In this case, 2 bags of 32 kg each is the check-in baggage allowance.
