Hi I have direct flight to Wuhan from Heathrow on 15th Sept. I have a economy ticket. My ticket states 1 peice free luggage 23k Can you tell me if I also allowed free cabin bag and small personal item. Also as the negative covid test is no longer required does the Health Code app still need to be completed to board flight. Many thanks Alan

Admin Reply :

Yes, cabin bag and personal items are also free in addition to check in bag. Normally, check in bag is only mentioned in the ticket. For the Health Code app, please check with the airline.

We are a family flying back to Adelaide from wuhan china, for winter break. Our family is 2 adults, 4 children, aged 10, 8, 4, 2. How much is the weight allowance per check in baggage for this return trip. We also will be bringing a stroller/pusher with us. Thank you for your help. Stuart Mullord

Admin Reply :

Since all children are above 2 years of age, they are entitled to same allowance as that of adults.

If tickets booked are in Economy, check in allowance is 1 bag of 23 kg per passenger. If tickets booked are in Premium Economy, then check-in allowance is 1 bag of 32 kg. Stroller can be taken in check-in baggage. It has to be fully collapsible.

I have two questions....the first is I am flying to Australia from Shanghai, it states 2x 23kg but I only want to take 1 suitcase. Can I take 1 case at 30kg instead or will I be charged excess even though I can take more ? Secondly I am moving countries, if I have 2x 23kg allowance can one of these be used to transport my dog ? Thank you

Admin Reply :

If you take 1 bag of 30 kg instead of allowance of 2 bags of 23 kg each, you will be charged for excess baggage.  Carriage of pets is dealt with separately.

If guitar is of size as mentioned in cabin baggage allowance, it can be taken as a part of cabin bag but if the size is more, you will have to buy a seat to take it in cabin, else take it in check-in luggage.

I am flying Sydney to Astana in Kazakhstan, I understand I will have 2 x 23 kg bag allowance. I also with to bring a bicycle. Is the size of the box for the bicycle still totalling 158 cm? Or is it 203 cm? Do I need to pay additional for the bike if the box is over 158 cm? Is this per leg (3), or per direction e.g. Sydney to Astana, and Astana to Sydney?

Admin Reply :

The size of each checkin bag shall be less than 158 cm linear dimensions. If this can be carried within free allowance limits, there shall not be a need to pay for it. However, we still advise you to confirm it with the airport office of the airline.

Sorry for the earlier reply. It was for China Eastern. For China Southern, and for your route where KLM is expected to be a codeshare partner, the allowance of respective airlines will apply. So, KLM might allow 1 check in bag of 23 kg, China Southern will allow 2 bags of 23 k each for economy class travelers.

I am traveling economy class Shanghai - Amsterdam - Riga on 6th of December. I understand that I have one 23kg check-in baggage and one 5kg carry on baggage, and laptop can be taken seperately. I have bought a folding bed with metal construction for my dog that doesn't fit into my suitcase. It comes in a bag and the dimensions are 90x20x10 cm, weight is 3.2kg. What should I do? Will I need to pay CYN 450 for it as an extra check-in baggage? Also, I am an international student studying in Shanghai, going home (Riga), but I already bought the ticket without specifying it. Can I still ask for extra free baggage allowance and give my 90x20x10 cm bag as the second baggage?

Admin Reply :

Yes, it is an excess piece of check in baggage but it might not entail the given charges. You are entitled to the extra baggage allowance of 1 check in bag being a foreign student and going from the country of your school to the country of your nationality.

This can be availed only when you have given an application in this respect to the airline or the agency directly under the airline at the time of booking and also provided the relevant docs (such as passport, visa and student ID). If you have not done at the time of ticket booking, then you shall call the airline to know whether this can be done at the time of check-in.

Sometimes the agencies might not have the baggage allowances configured correctly into their systems. They are more concerned with booking tickets and cancellations, then baggage allowances. We would suggest that you go by the airline website information. For further confirmation, please get in touch with the airline local office.

I’m flying Bangkok to Cancun and I’m confused on the weight of the free checked-in luggage that I am allowed? It only mentions 5kg carry on luggage on my ticket ?

Admin Reply :

What is mentioned on ticket is the cabin baggage allowance. The check in baggage allowance is 2 bags of 23 kg each.

I will be travelling from Manila to Lax on October 19 I only have one check in luggage but it weighs about 35kgs. Is that acceptable ?

Admin Reply :

No check in bag shall be more than 32 kg at maximum. For your route, the single check in bag,  if more than 23 kg, will entail payment of excess baggage charges.

Is it permitted and ok to bring a small foldable bicycle with battery to check in and have loaded in the storage of the airplane? I want to take my small E-bike to London on the "checked" luggage. The size of my bike is 750mm wide, 650mm tall, and the bicycle weight is approximately 23kg.

Admin Reply :

The bike can be carried in check in if it is within the permitted check in baggage allowance limits by size and weight. You have not mentioned the origin place of your itinerary. If the battery is removable, it needs to be taken in cabin with proper insulation. If it is not removable, then it has to properly insulated. However, the airline personnel at airport have the right to refuse the carriage.

My grandson is travelling to Bali with the airline in October. He is taking part in a wakeboard competition. He obviously needs to take his equipment as luggage and I am concerned that there may be a problem at check-ins. He has travelled with the board before and weight is about 20kg with clothing inside, but obviously is slightly longer than a normal suitcase. On other occasions he has not been charged extra and it has just been put on the oversize belt at the airport. I have read the luggage allowances but cannot make any sense of them, please can you advise so I know what I need to do for him. Kind regards Christine Hart

Admin Reply :

You have not mentioned the place of origin of the flight. We are assuming this is an international flight to Bali. These equipments are not considered as a part of the check in baggage allowance and he might have to pay for it. Sum of dimensions of the wakeboard shall not be more than 300 cm.

Hi, im flying to Vancouver from Jakarta with transit in Guangzhou , as i need to carry my laptop + handbag & few more other valuable items which may possibly exceed the allowance of 5kg. Is that possible or will it be strictly not more than 5kg in total carry on? What’s the total free allowance weight possible for carry on and will there be any extra charge per kg incase it exceed of the 5kg mentioned?

Admin Reply :

If you exceed the cabin baggage allowance, you might be asked to transfer some items to check-in baggage.

We are flying from Brisbane to Beijing via Guangshou - and it seems we are allowed 2 bags of 23 kg of baggage. But after our 14 day China Tour where we end up in Chongqing, we will be flying from Chongqing to Shanghai where we board a cruise ship to return to Australia. Are we now only allowed 1 bag of 20 kg for our trip from Chongqing to Shanghai?

Admin Reply :

Yes, it will be 20 kg. This is what even the airline officials here tell us. We would request you to make an enquiry with the local airport office as well to confirm further.
