Cathay Pacific Frequent Flyer Program

Marco Polo Club is the frequent flyer program of Cathay Pacific. It offers a range of benefits to passengers who have been loyally taking the services of the carrier. By being a member of this program, you automatically become a member of Asia Miles program as well. Cathay Pacific is affiliated to oneworld alliance and Marco Polo Club is designed to allow the alliance passengers to benefit from it as well. The program also works in partnership with DragonAir.

Please note that the program is expected to undergo some change w.e.f 15 April 2016.

Current Program Highlights (valid up to 15 April 2016)

The program has 4 tiers of membership- Green, Silver, Gold and Diamond, with Green being the entry level program. The members can move to the higher levels on accumulation of Club Miles and Club Sectors by flying eligible fare classes on Cathay Pacific, oneworld alliance members and Dragon Air.

Green tier level does not require qualifying miles though there is a requirement to fly at least 4 sectors.

Silver status (= Ruby of oneworld) is attained by accumulating 30000 club miles or flying on 20 club sectors.

Gold Status (= Sapphire of oneworld) is attained by 60000 miles or 40 sectors.

Diamond status (= Emerald of oneworld) is attained by having 120000 miles or flying 80 club sectors.

Eligible fare classes on DragonAir and Cathay Pacific and corresponding Club Miles or Sectors earned are:

Economy class with Y, B, H, K, M, L, V fare class is eligible to earn 100% Miles or Sectors flown.

Prem.Economy Class with W, R, E fare class will earn 110%

Business Class with C, J, D, I fare class will earn 125%

First Class with F, A fare class will earn 150%.

Benefits associated with the program are-

There are many benefits associated with this program. These include advance seat reservation, priority waiting list, guaranteed economy/ premium economy/ Business class seating, extra leg-room seats, lounge access, extra baggage allowance,

Extra baggage allowance is 10 kg for Silver members, 15 kg or 1 piece for Gold members and 20 kg or 1 pc for Diamond members. Special cabin baggage allowance is of 10 kg for Silver and Gold members and 15 kg for Diamond members.

For Cathay Pacific marketed flights operated by Qatar Airways between Doha and Hong Kong, there is an additional baggage allowance of 10, 15 and 20 kg for Silver, Gold and Diamond members.

Club Miles and Sectors can be earned and redeemed with airline partners as well as non-airline partners such as hotels, car rental companies, luxury brands and others.

New Program (after 15 April, 2016)

Earning of Club Points - Club Points will be earned on the basis of fare class booked on Cathay Pacific or all its airline partners as well as distance zones. It will no longer be linked in percentage terms but there will be a Points chart brought out by the carrier which will show Points in absolute  numbers. These would be earned over 6 different distance zones- ultra short haul, short, medium, medium-long, long and ultra-long.

Membership Tiers - Green entry level membership is no longer free. It comes with a joining fee of USD 100. This can be retained either by earning 100 Club Points in a year or spending another USD 100 towards fee.

Silver, Gold and Diamond level can be attained by earning 300, 600 and 1200 Club Points respectively.

Asia Miles Loyalty Rewards Program

This is a travel and lifestyle loyalty rewards program which gives passengers an opportunity to earn miles by flying more than 25 partner airlines. Besides the airline partners, there are partners from other sectors, totalling to more than 500 from 9 different categories (retail, dining, flights, leisure, hotel, car rental, finance and insurance, telecommunications and professional services).

Passengers can earn Asia miles as per following scheme:

First, Business and Premium Economy class travellers earn 150%, 125% and 110% of actual flown miles whereas the Economy class travellers can earn 100%, 50% and 25% of actual miles flown depending on different fare classes.

Redemption of the Miles can be done by way of flight awards, upgrade awards, hotel awards, car rental awards, lifestyles awards and also by way of charity. There are published charts for flight awards on Cathay Pacific and partner airlines. Also, provided are award calculator which can be used to know how many miles would be needed for redemption.
