IndiGo offers four ways to check in: online, on the app, at a kiosk and at a staffed counter. The deadlines below come from the airline's published rules. Every time below is measured backwards from your flight's planned take-off.
Check-in deadlines
Web check-in opens
- Domestic flights
- Two days ahead
- International flights
- Two days ahead (the airline's airport page gives the free web window as 48 hours down to 60 minutes)
Airport counters close
- Domestic flights
- 60 minutes before departure
- International flights
- 75 minutes before departure
Boarding gate closes
- Domestic flights
- 25 minutes before departure
- International flights
- 25 minutes before departure
Suggested time to reach the airport
- Domestic flights
- 2 hours before
- International flights
- 4 hours before
- Be at the gate by the time printed on your boarding pass, or by any later time announced at the airport.
- IndiGo may cancel the reservation of a customer who misses these deadlines. The Conditions of Carriage add that anyone not checked in an hour before departure forfeits the fare, apart from airport charges (not counting GST), which can be claimed back.
- Web check-in is free. Customers who bought through the airline's own site or app are normally checked in for them; everyone else can do it on goindigo.in or in the app.
Ways to check in
Web check-in
- Go to the airline's website, enter your booking details and pick a seat if you wish. On a domestic sector the window stays open from two days out until an hour prior.
- Bring your boarding pass on paper or on your phone. Travellers with cabin bags only can head straight for security. A checked bag must be handed in at the bag drop counter after you finish online.
- Clear any unpaid amount on the booking first, otherwise online check-in is blocked.
Mobile check-in
- Get the IndiGo app for Android or iOS, register, then check in, choose a seat and email or print the e-boarding pass. Registration is mandatory for this route.
- A printed copy is recommended. You can also collect one at an IndiGo counter, though the queue will be longer.
Kiosk check-in
- Machines at the airport let you choose a seat and print your boarding pass. No registration is needed.
- Once the counters have closed for your flight, the kiosk will not print a pass.
Counter check-in
- Staffed counters handle bags and anyone not able to check in online.
- IndiGoStretch flyers may use online check-in two days ahead and get priority handling when they reach the terminal.
Who cannot use web check-in
Online check-in is not available if any of these apply to you:
- You booked the special Unaccompanied Minor fare.
- You are travelling as a medical passenger or on a stretcher.
- You paid with an international credit or debit card.
- Your trip has connections and a later flight leaves outside the 48-hour window of the first.
Go to the airport counter instead, and allow extra time.
Fast Forward and seat rules
- Fast Forward is a paid add-on giving priority check-in and boarding at any time. The domestic price is INR 650 for each traveller and flight; other currencies are on IndiGo's fees page. BluChip members receive a discount when they pre-book it.
- Emergency-exit seats are given only to able-bodied customers aged 15 or over who can open the exit and follow the crew's instructions. Passengers with sensory impairments, users of on-board oxygen devices and anyone with a short-term mobility problem cannot sit there.
- Seats on ATR aircraft do not recline.
Airport terminals
IndiGo publishes a terminal list for each airport. Check it against your own booking, since terminals can change.
- Domestic, numbered terminals
- Ahmedabad T1, Bhubaneswar T1, Delhi T1, Jaipur T2, Kolkata T2, Lucknow T2, Thiruvananthapuram T1, Vijayawada Domestic T1
- Domestic, named terminals
- Goa Domestic Terminal (Dabolim), Kozhikode Domestic Terminal, Mumbai Domestic Terminal, Tirupati Domestic Terminal; most other cities use a single terminal
- International
- Delhi T3, Mumbai T2, Singapore T2, Doha Terminal B, Colombo T1, Dubai T1; Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Kathmandu Tribhuvan, Muscat and Sharjah have a single terminal
- When a terminal changes, IndiGo contacts the affected customers by SMS, call or email using the details given at booking.
- At Delhi, an airport-run shuttle between terminals runs about every 10 minutes. The Metro does not link T1 with T2 or T3.
Children and passengers needing help
- A child using Flying Solo must arrive 2 hours ahead on a domestic trip, or 4 hours ahead on an international trip.
- Wheelchair users and others wanting help should say so two days in advance. See the Special Assistance page.
- Questions: 0124-6173838 or 0124-4973838.
