Qatar Airways Check-in & Boarding

Qatar Airways lets you check in on its website or app, at self-service kiosks at selected airports, or at an airport counter. It does not publish one worldwide counter or gate deadline; the time on your ticket and boarding pass is the one that counts. Under its Conditions of Carriage, if you miss the airline's check-in or boarding-gate deadline, it can give your seat away and will not hold the flight.

Opens one day ahead of take-off

• Offered when Qatar Airways flies the plane, or flies the opening leg of a longer trip.
• In the app, put the booking under My Trips, check in, then save the digital boarding pass to your phone wallet.
• Checked bags can be left at fast bag-drop counters.
• BAGTAG lets you create a digital baggage label from the app on selected routes.
• Mobile boarding passes work at many airports, among them Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Birmingham, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Nice, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna, Warsaw and Zurich, plus Adelaide, Auckland, Melbourne, Perth, Phuket, Seoul, Sydney, Tokyo and Doha. In Doha, passport control still asks for a paper boarding pass.

• Automated bag drop: Berlin, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Auckland, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Brisbane, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Phuket, Singapore and Doha.
• At a kiosk you pick a seat, key in your Privilege Club number, print your pass and leave your bag.
• Fast Pass, once you register, lets facial recognition stand in for your boarding pass around Doha's airport.

Other points

• If you booked on Qatar Airways' website or through its contact centres, the airline may ask to see the card you paid with at check-in.
• Anyone who has booked help (a wheelchair, for instance) should arrive three hours or more before the flight.
• Emergency-exit seats cannot be given to passengers who need wheelchair assistance.
• A passenger who checks in but then chooses not to fly, and says so with under three hours to go, may be billed for any delay that causes.
