An earlier version of this article named the airports where Emirates accepted an e-boarding pass for check-in. Emirates now says the digital pass works almost everywhere on its network and has dropped the list. Below is how to obtain one and the times that matter.
Getting the pass
- Complete check-in on the website or in the Emirates app, then keep the pass in the app, on the phone or in a wallet app.
- The app remembers your details, which speeds up the next check-in.
- Agents who check you in at the airport or at your address in Dubai can email you a digital pass or print one.
Where it works
Emirates states that the phone version is accepted at nearly every airport it serves. If an airport insists on paper, the desk prints one for you. At Dubai International you can also tag your own bags and collect the pass at contactless kiosks driven from your phone.
Times to remember
| Step | Before departure |
|---|---|
| Airport check-in opens | 3 hours at most airports (up to 4 at some) |
| Passport control and security cleared | 90 minutes |
| At the gate: Economy and Premium Economy | 60 minutes |
| At the gate: Business and First | 45 minutes |
In Dubai, budget up to 20 minutes on foot for an A gate, 15 for a B gate and 25 for a C gate.
