The timings below come from Etihad's trip-planning page, which gives one set of times. Use them to decide how early to arrive. Airports and local authorities can ask for earlier arrival, so look for an airport note on your booking.
Standard timings
- Desks open four hours ahead of departure.
- Economy passengers must be checked in an hour (60 minutes) before the flight leaves.
- For Business or First the cut-off is 45 minutes before departure.
United States departures
- Reach the airport four hours ahead.
- In Abu Dhabi the US border preclearance area should be entered two hours before the flight; premium cabin passengers, including those in The Residence, have until ninety minutes before.
Save time in Abu Dhabi
Registering for the automated border gates can shorten the immigration queue. Whether you qualify depends on your visa and nationality.
Priority check-in
If you bought Priority Access, use the dedicated counter in Abu Dhabi. Elsewhere, go to the Business Class counters and then the priority boarding lane.
