Emirates sells economy in four fare types, and each sets how much you can check in and whether you pay for a seat. The older version of this page listed the booking class letters behind each fare. Those letters still sit behind the fares but they are not something you choose, so this update focuses on what the fares give you.
Economy: checked baggage by fare
On most routes the allowance is a total weight. A single bag may not weigh more than 32 kg, and its three sides together must not exceed 203 cm.

Routes counted in pieces
To and from the Americas, and into or out of Africa, Emirates counts bags instead of weight.
- Americas and Africa routes: economy Special gets one bag up to 23 kg; Saver, Flex and Flex Plus get two bags of up to 23 kg each.
- Within the Americas and between the US and Europe: Special and Saver get one 23 kg bag; Flex and Flex Plus get two.

Business and First are sold in their own fare levels too. Emirates shows the one that applies to your ticket during booking.
Seat selection and the fare
- Choosing a seat is optional. If you do not, Emirates gives you one without charge.
- Passengers in First, Business and Premium Economy, and on Flex and Flex Plus fares, do not pay to choose a standard seat. Flex Plus travellers can also pick a preferred seat free.
- On Special fares a standard seat can carry a fee. Emirates' own pages are not fully consistent about Saver, so check the price shown when you book.
- Preferred, twin, premium and extra-legroom seats are charged on Special, Saver and Flex fares.
- On a ticket that mixes fares, you pay only for the legs where your fare requires it.
Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold and Silver members may have extra allowance on routes counted by weight. Your exact allowance appears in Manage a Booking.
