Singapore Airlines Check-in & Boarding

Singapore Airlines offers online, app, automatic, kiosk and counter check-in. The airline publishes counter times for each airport, so the time on your own booking is the one to follow.

Key times

Online or app check-in

Opens 48 hours ahead and shuts 1.5 hours before take-off (the app stays open until 1 hour). On US-bound flights, boarding passes come 24 hours ahead.

Auto check-in

The system checks you in by itself 48 hours ahead, provided you turned it on in Manage Booking

Changi counters

Open from 48 hours out and close 40 minutes ahead of take-off. The airline suggests arriving three hours early, especially with bags.

Changi self-service kiosks

Usable from 24 hours ahead, then use the automated bag drop

Other airports

Desks mostly open 3 hours ahead (2.5 hours at some, 4 hours at others) and shut between 40 minutes and 1 hour before take-off, by airport

• Whatever time you check in, the Changi transit area admits you no earlier than 24 hours ahead.

Online and app check-in

• Open to all travellers except under-18s without an adult, and anyone whose booking has an earlier sector still unchecked.
• When another airline flies the first sector, even under an SQ number, check in with that airline. Scoot first legs may be eligible for check-in on the Singapore Airlines site or app (ticket number starting 618, up to six passengers).
• Digital boarding passes are accepted at many airports; the check-in page has a list. Some travellers cannot get one for regulatory reasons.
• Automatic check-in excludes children travelling alone, group bookings, waitlisted or unconfirmed passengers, extra-seat bookings, and anyone not yet checked in on an earlier sector.

Changi counters by travel class

• Terminal 2 handles flights to South East Asia, Dhaka, Male, Kathmandu, Colombo, Japan (except SQ12) and South Korea; other destinations use Terminal 3. Non-stop US flights use Row 2 in Terminal 3.
• Counter hours: Terminal 2 from 04:30 to 02:00, Terminal 3 from 05:00 to 02:00.
• Jewel Changi has an early check-in lounge on level 1, open 8am to midnight, for flights except those to the USA.
• Kiosks are not for unaccompanied minors, extra-seat bookings or passengers needing special help.
• In Hong Kong you can check in downtown at the Airport Express station, between 24 hours and 90 minutes ahead (09:00 to 17:20).
