My parents are travelling from kathmandu to dallas. We booked for wheelchairs but it doesn’t say any thing about wheelchairs on their tickets. Is it normal ?
We called the agents in kathmandu and asked them about wheelchairs. The guy wanted to know about my parents’s age. I said my mom is 49 yrs n dad 61 yrs. he said they are not old enough for using wheelchairs.
I said my mom has a medical condition which doesnt allow her to move her body around like other ppl . And my dad had an accident couple of years ago which has damaged his one leg as a result hecannot walk long distance. The guy said its upto the airline staff to give wheelchair or not , if they are convienced they will give if not then they wont eventhough the wheelchairs were booked while purchasing the tickets. I would like to know if this is true? I mean how can someone not get a weelchair just because of their age despite having medical issues?
Your agent is wrong. IT is the duty of airlines to provide wheelchairs for the disabled passengers. And, every airline does it. Age is not the criteria for deciding whether wheelchair is needed or not. Get in touch with the airline directly.
