Emirates does not belong to Star Alliance, oneworld or SkyTeam. Instead it signs one-to-one deals with other airlines and with rail and helicopter operators. Besides more than 150 destinations of its own, it says you can reach over 300 more cities through partners, often on a single ticket.

Emirates and Qantas
- Book on emirates.com, by phone or through an agent, and travel on one ticket to more than 30 destinations in Australia and New Zealand. Emirates itself serves Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
- Codeshare flights keep the Emirates baggage allowance, lounge access and Skywards benefits. Emirates flight numbers in the 5000 series are flown by Qantas; Qantas numbers in the 8000 series are flown by Emirates. A flight shown with a QF code uses Qantas baggage rules.
- Qantas Premium Economy cannot be booked through Emirates. Changes to Qantas-operated flights can be made on emirates.com or through Emirates contact centres.
- In Australia, a passenger changing from an overseas flight to an internal one clears customs and collects bags first, unless the airport has a domestic transfer desk.
- Lounges: the Dubai Emirates lounges welcome Qantas passengers in First or Business and to Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum and Qantas Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members. Skywards Gold members can use Qantas domestic Club lounges, and Platinum members the domestic Business lounges.
- The chauffeur-drive service is not offered on Qantas-operated flights or Qantas tickets.
- Dubai Connect gives eligible long-layover passengers free accommodation, meals, transport and a visa.
Questions travellers ask us
Is Emirates part of an airline alliance?
No. It works through separate partnerships.
Do I keep my baggage allowance on a partner flight?
On a codeshare flight with an Emirates flight number, yes. On a flight carrying the partner's own code, the partner's rules apply.
Who flies a Qantas codeshare?
Emirates numbers from 5000 up are operated by Qantas; Qantas numbers from 8000 up are operated by Emirates.
Baggage Allowance is an independent information site and is not part of Emirates. Check the airline's own pages before you travel.
