If you cancel
- Refunds follow the fare conditions and the applicable regulations; if a refund is allowed it is based on the total price paid including taxes.
- On a non-refundable ticket you can claim back unused airport taxes, but not the carrier-imposed surcharges.
- Booking, service and payment charges are not returned in any case.
- Send the refund request to whoever issued the ticket: Air France or its accredited agent. For tickets bought from a travel agent, deal with the agent.
- The airline may refuse a refund requested after the ticket has expired, for a stolen or forged ticket, where you were refused carriage, or where you were not admitted at your destination.
- Refunds follow the regulations of the country of purchase and of the country paying the refund.
Flights touching the United States
- Customer First programme: if you bought on airfrance.us for a US flight you may ask for your money back within a day of booking, along with any paid option bought then.
- Credit-card purchases are refunded within 7 business days; debit cards, cash or cheque within 20 calendar days, by the method originally used, without a handling fee.
- The airline discloses your refund right when it offers a voucher or credit. In some health situations it may instead offer a refund or a transferable credit valid for 5 years.
- If a bag is significantly delayed or lost, its fee is refunded. Its aim is to return mishandled bags in 15 or 30 hours after arrival on international trips.
- Passengers are told of delays, cancellations and diversions within 30 minutes of the airline learning of them.
- Passengers with disabilities who are downgraded or rerouted so that needed features are lost also have refund rights.
Delays and cancellations
- Rules for compensation and assistance follow the passenger rights regulations that apply to the flight; see the airline's Passengers rights page.
