This article once described the privileges of Air Canada's Altitude programme, a set of membership levels linked to Aeroplan. Air Canada's status pages no longer use the Altitude name. Frequent flyer status is now called Aeroplan Elite Status, and the old benefit lists no longer apply. The summary below follows Air Canada's current pages. For travel from 1 January 2026, the airline also changed the way points and status are earned.
The five levels
You reach a level by gathering Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) during one calendar year:
| Level | SQC needed |
|---|---|
| Aeroplan 25K | 25,000 (or through Everyday Status Qualification) |
| Aeroplan 35K | 35,000 |
| Aeroplan 50K | 50,000 |
| Aeroplan 75K | 75,000 |
| Aeroplan Super Elite | 125,000 |
What members receive
- Core benefits: given to every Elite member, with the exact set depending on level. Air Canada names additional checked bags, priority treatment at the airport and Star Alliance recognition.
- Milestone benefits: unlocked at every 10,000 SQC you collect (up to 200,000 SQC, then every 20,000). Some are awarded automatically and some you choose from a menu.
How SQC are earned
- 4 SQC for each dollar spent on the base fare and carrier surcharges in Economy Flex, Comfort, Latitude, Premium Economy or Business.
- 2 SQC per dollar on Economy Standard fares and on eUpgrade add-ons.
- 1 SQC per dollar on an Air Canada Vacations package, including taxes and fees.
- Economy Basic fares earn no SQC.
The rules for counting credits are explained in our note on activity that does not count. For the detailed benefit list of each level, open Air Canada's status page.
