International Cities From Where Air Canada Online Check-in Is Possible

This article used to list the international cities where Air Canada passengers could check in on its website or app. Air Canada has stopped publishing that list and now describes one process for its network, with a few exceptions. Here is how it works.

When and how

• Online or in the Air Canada app, the window opens a full day (24 hours) ahead of the flight.
• Airport kiosks start working 12 hours ahead.
• The bag drop counter accepts luggage from four hours ahead.

What you need

1. One identifier: the six-character booking reference, your nine-digit Aeroplan number, or the 13-digit ticket number that begins with 014.
2. Your passport or other documents needed at the destination.
3. If you are flying into the US, the address of your first stay.

What you can do while checking in

• Pick a standard or preferred seat.
• Declare the number of bags to check and settle any fees.
• Switch to another flight on the same day, or ask to be placed on standby for an earlier one, if you are eligible.
• Spend eUpgrade credits or purchase a late upgrade when available.
• Enter or amend a loyalty number and upload any health paperwork.

Who has to check in with an agent

• Children travelling alone with the Unaccompanied Minor service.
• Passengers who need medical help or a wheelchair, or whose booking has a special request.
• Anyone travelling with a pet in the cabin or the hold.
• Passengers leaving Algeria, Cuba or Morocco, who must see an agent to get a boarding pass.

Deadlines at the airport

Times are minutes before departure. The bag drop deadline within Canada is 45 minutes before departure. Toronto Billy Bishop and a few European airports have their own rules, so read your itinerary.
