Last updated: 29 October 2026. Frontier says bag prices change with your travel dates and the time of purchase, and that buying at the airport costs more.
Prices are in US dollars (USD). Carry-on and checked bag prices are not published as a table; Frontier shows them in its Bag Price Checker and when you book.
Cabin baggage

- Size
- Up to 18 x 14 x 8 in, including handles, wheels and straps; fits under the seat
- Weight
- Up to 35 lb
- Price
- One included with every fare

- Size
- Up to 24 x 16 x 10 in with handles, wheels and straps counted; stored in the overhead locker
- Weight
- Up to 35 lb
- Price

- Frontier checks the size of your personal item at boarding. Larger items are charged. If overhead bins are full, a carry-on can be gate checked at no extra cost.
- Coats, canes, crutches, portable oxygen concentrators, respiratory devices and assistive devices are exempt from carry-on charges.
- Board First (from $2.99 to $14.99 per passenger per direction) reserves locker space for your carry-on, and only carry-on buyers can add it.
Checked baggage
A checked bag may measure up to 62 linear inches (length + width + depth) and weigh up to 40 lb (18.1 kg). Some bundles or elite statuses raise the limits. Purchase no later than 60 minutes before the flight.
Does the price depend on when you pay?
Yes. Frontier says buying during booking, or any time ahead of the flight, saves money, while airport prices are higher. Prices also change with your travel dates. The Bag Price Checker on flyfrontier.com shows the exact price for your trip.

- Frontier's fees are non-refundable.
- Frontier's special items list says items must be 62 linear inches and 40 lb or less to count as a normal checked bag, and many items need an extra 30 minutes for check-in.
- Active military: active U.S. military personnel (and their spouse and children when the service member travels on the same itinerary), showing a valid CAC or Armed Forces ID, get on all ticket types one free personal item, one free carry-on and two free checked bags, with overweight and oversize fees waived on those two bags. Bags must still meet size and weight limits.
- Strollers and baby items: strollers are exempt and free (checked or carry-on). A diaper bag and stroller are exempt when you travel with an infant; a playpen pays normal bag prices.
- Bicycles: one non-motorised touring or racing bike with a single seat, handlebars fixed sideways, pedals removed (or wrapped in foam), in a protective case or box. $100 each way regardless of fare, no other fees. Nothing over 99.9 lb or 109 in is accepted, and allow an extra 30 minutes.
- Golf: one bag with clubs and shoes; checked bag fees apply, plus overweight and oversize if they apply.
- Skis and snowboards (snow and water): one item with skis, poles and boots counts as one. Boots in a boot bag can be checked separately if the boot bag is 25 lb or less.
- Surfboards, wave skis, kite boards: one item, fin or skeg encased, not over 99.9 lb or 15 ft. Body boards, boogie boards and wake boards have their own rule on the list. Kayaks and canoes: one with paddles, not over 99.9 lb or 15 ft.
- Hockey: one item with a bag and one stick (or two bound sticks) packed separately; oversize fees do not apply to the sticks. Hang gliders: one per passenger, not over 99.9 lb or 15 ft. Scuba: one bag with fins, mask, knife, snorkel, regulator, vest, spear gun, gauge, harness and an empty tank with the regulator valve removed. Fishing: one bag with rods, reels, nets, boots and tackle box. Archery: one bag with bows, arrows and a maintenance kit. Bowling: balls and shoes.
- For all of these, checked bag prices follow the fare you bought, with overweight and oversize fees where they apply.
- Musical instruments: small ones such as guitars and violins may be carried on even if over the carry-on size, as long as they fit the overhead bin at boarding. Frontier will not remove other bags or offer special boarding to fit an instrument, and an instrument that does not fit is gate checked and returned at the aircraft door. Instruments pay carry-on or checked bag prices for the fare.
- Firearms: only for passengers 18 or older, in a hard-sided locked container as checked baggage on domestic US flights, unloaded, declared at the ticket counter. Ammunition up to 11 lb per passenger in its original container. Firearms and ammunition are not allowed on international flights or in carry-on. Allow an extra 30 minutes.
- Pets: pets travel only in the cabin within the US, for a fee, not on international flights and not as checked baggage.
- Not accepted: fireworks, live fish, styrofoam containers, blood, organs and similar biological substances.
