SWISS assists passengers with disabilities at the airport and on board. Book well in advance, at least two days before departure, and notify the Service Centre of your needs; groups with their own mobility aids should say so as early as possible.

Wheelchairs and disability help
- Trained staff help at all airports, with complimentary wheelchairs and accompanied transport at departure and arrival. Your wheelchair is returned at the aircraft or at the latest at the baggage carousel (not immediately at Catania, Hanover, Nuremberg, Olbia, Palermo, Rotterdam, Stuttgart and Valencia).
- Arrive at the check-in desk 90 minutes before the latest check-in time. Passengers with disabilities board first. Up to two wheelchairs and assistance dogs travel free.
- An on-board wheelchair is on all long-haul flights and on request on short-haul flights.
- From 1 October 2025, mobility aids with a fixed lithium battery are limited to two batteries of up to 160 Wh each. Battery wheelchairs are not permitted after check-in; staff take you to the gate in a replacement chair, and the wheelchair travels as cargo free.
- Medical equipment needs notice and sometimes clearance; oxygen on board is provided for a fee and must be ordered at least 72 hours ahead, with a MEDIF form.
Pregnancy
- Uncomplicated pregnancies: fly until the end of week 36 (four weeks before the due date); multiple pregnancies until the end of week 32.
- After week 28 a medical certificate is recommended, not required, stating the pregnancy is progressing smoothly and giving the due date. Wear compression stockings and drink plenty.
Children travelling alone
- The unaccompanied minors service is compulsory for children under 12 and available on request for ages 12 to 17; teenagers without it get no special help in a disruption.
- Offered on all direct flights and on connections in Zurich, Geneva, Brussels, Munich, Frankfurt and Vienna (an extra fee for Vienna transfers). If the itinerary includes other airlines, contact the Service Centre first; their rules may differ.
- Fee: a service charge applies for each child on each route, siblings included; the US fees page lists USD 170, and other markets list regional fees.
- Children under 12 travelling alone cannot take a pet in the cabin.
