Checked baggage

A standard bag is up to 62 in (157 cm) in length plus width plus height and up to 50 lb (22.7 kg). In Mint, BlueFirst and for Mosaic and other eligible bags, the included bag can weigh up to 70 lb (32 kg).

Does the price depend on when you pay?

Yes. Add your first two bags a day or more ahead of departure and each is up to $10 cheaper (the price shown already includes the saving). A third bag can be added only at check-in or the airport. Busy dates carry peak prices, and bag fees are returned only when the full booking is cancelled before departure.

Special baggage

Pets

A small dog or cat can fly in the cabin on Main, EvenMore or BlueFirst, shut in an approved carrier (FAA standard) that slides under the seat. JetBlue charges $150 each way for a pet, which you add under Extras while booking (or pay with TrueBlue points). Each traveller may bring up to two pets, each in its own carrier with its own seat and fee; a flight takes six pets.

Sports equipment

A bike, board, skis, golf bag or fishing rods each use up one checked bag. No oversize fee is charged, so you pay the fare's checked bag fee plus an overweight fee for items over 50 lb. Nothing over 99 lb (45 kg) is accepted. Damage is covered only in a hard-sided case designed for the item. Several pieces of gear can share one bag made for them (for example a bowling bag with three compartments).

  • Bicycles: in a hard-sided padded bicycle case counts as one bag per bike. Without one, handlebars are secured sideways, pedals removed and the bike wrapped in foam or a cardboard box (domestic only). Not accepted to or from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Peru and Port of Spain.

Golf

One bag with up to 14 clubs, 3 golf balls and one pair of shoes, counts as one checked bag.

Skis and snowboards

One pair of skis with poles and boots, or one snowboard with boots, is one item. Boots packed separately must be in a boot bag. Not accepted to or from the Dominican Republic.

Surfboards

One surfboard per case. Kiteboard, windsurf and water-ski gear are one item each. Surf and kite equipment is not accepted to or from Bermuda, Haiti, Peru, Port of Spain, Santo Domingo and Santiago (Dominican Republic); water skis are not accepted to or from the Dominican Republic.

Fishing

Two rods, one reel, one landing net, boots and a tackle box count as one item, in a hard-sided container. Archery (a bow and quiver in a case), baseball bats in an equipment bag, bowling gear (one ball and shoes) and drones count as one checked bag each; balls may be partly deflated.

Not accepted on any JetBlue flight

Antlers and horns, balance gliders, gas-powered scooters, hoverboards, electric skateboards with lithium batteries, kayaks, scuba tanks with compressed gas and stand-up paddle boards and paddles.

  • Musical instruments: allowed in place of one carry-on item if they fit in a bin or under the seat (standard carry-on size limits do not apply; bins fit about 22 x 14 x 9 in and longer items such as a guitar may fit in bins with partial dividers). If space runs out the instrument is gate checked. Checked, an instrument counts as a checked bag with no oversize or overweight fee up to 150 in (381 cm) and 165 lb (75 kg). A cello or upright bass can travel in an extra window seat you buy, up to 165 lb, secured with a seat belt, not in an exit row. Use a hard-sided case for liability cover.
  • Media bags: qualified media crews pay $50 per bag within North America and Latin America and $70 / £50 / €70 on trips to and from Europe and the UK, up to 99 lb including oversize, if arranged in advance. Not for social media creators, Base fares, groups, JetBlue Vacations or interline flights. Bag limits by aircraft apply (for example 10 bags on an A220 and 25 on an A321).
  • Boxes and plastic bins: not accepted to or from international cities except Vancouver, where boxes sealed by the factory or a professional are treated as a checked bag.
  • Televisions: allowed on domestic flights, in the sealed factory box, counted as one checked bag (extra fees for size or weight may apply); not allowed on international flights.
