The older version of this article listed pre-paid extra baggage prices for flights leaving the USA, Europe, Australia and other countries. Scoot now sets those prices in a fees chart for each departure country, and the figures change with the currency. A table copied here would soon be wrong, so this update explains the baggage rules and tells you where the price for your own departure country is published.
Cabin baggage
| Cabin | Allowance |
|---|---|
| Economy | 2 pieces, up to 10 kg together |
| ScootPlus | 2 pieces, up to 15 kg together |
- The two pieces are one carry-on bag and one personal item. The carry-on must fit within 54 x 38 x 23 cm, with the three sides together under 115 cm, to go in the overhead locker. The personal item must fit under the seat in front, at 40 x 30 x 10 cm.
- Infants have no cabin baggage allowance.
Checked baggage
| Cabin | Included in the fare | What you can add |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | None | 20 to 40 kg, for an extra fee |
| ScootPlus | 30 kg | Up to 40 kg in total, for an extra fee |
- You may check up to 15 pieces, each no larger than 158 cm (length plus width plus height).
- No checked bag may weigh more than 32 kg. A heavier bag has to be repacked.
- Online you can buy up to 40 kg of baggage allowance. Buying early is cheaper than paying at the airport.
Where to find the price
Scoot publishes the cost of extra baggage, seats and changes in its fees chart, which differs for each departure country and currency. For flights leaving Singapore the chart is in Singapore dollars. Check the chart for the country you fly from, or look at the baggage add-on during booking, which shows the exact price.
Sports gear, instruments and smart luggage
- Sports equipment such as golf clubs, surfboards, skis, dive gear and bicycles counts towards your baggage allowance, including on flights to and from the USA. Items over 32 kg cannot be checked and may have to go as cargo.
- Large instruments such as a cello or double bass cannot go in the cabin unless you buy an extra seat. After packing the instrument must be no larger than 140 x 40 x 45 cm and no heavier than 32 kg.
- Smart luggage with a lithium battery: in the cabin the battery must not exceed 160 Wh and any transmitting function must follow the aircraft rules. In checked baggage the battery must be removed and carried in the cabin.
Connections
If you change flights at Singapore Changi on a single booking, your bag is tagged through to the final destination. On separate bookings you must collect the bag, clear immigration and check it in again.
