Jetstar charges a handling fee for each oversized item, on top of the checked baggage weight you buy. The 2017 version of this article listed one fee per airline group. Jetstar now shows different prices for booking early and for paying at the airport, in many currencies, so this update follows the table on its Australian site.
What the fee covers
- It is a fee for each oversized item. Any bag longer than 1 m on one side counts, for example a surfboard or bicycle bag.
- It pays only for the extra handling and does not add weight. Buy enough checked baggage weight to cover both your normal bag and the oversized item.
- Example from Jetstar: a 15 kg suitcase and a 10 kg surfboard bag need at least 25 kg of checked baggage plus one oversized item fee.
Limits
- Up to two oversized items per passenger for each flight.
- No single item may weigh more than 32 kg, even if your checked allowance is 35 or 40 kg.
- An oversized item must be under 2.3 m. On Boeing 787 international flights of Jetstar Airways the limit is 2.77 m. If your trip uses different aircraft, the lowest limit applies.

Fees for Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam and Jetstar Asia in Singapore are on those airlines' own pages, which we did not read for this update.
