This checklist first compared the free baggage of five Indian airlines in 2014. Two of them, Jet Airways and GoAir, no longer fly, and prices and fares have changed. This update covers the airlines whose current baggage pages we could read: IndiGo (3 November 2026), Air India and Akasa Air (31 October 2026).

Common rules
- No single checked bag may weigh more than 32 kg, and Akasa and IndiGo limit a bag to 158 cm in total dimensions.
- Infants without their own seat get no free checked bag on Akasa's domestic and international flights, but a stroller is allowed free.

Airlines not covered
- SpiceJet: the baggage page on its site said "coming soon" when we visited, so we could not read the current allowance.
- Jet Airways and GoAir: these airlines no longer operate, so their old allowances have been removed.
