The earlier version of this article had a very long list of weight-based rates for each country. Air Mauritius now charges most routes per extra bag in euros, with the price depending on where your journey starts. This update follows the rate chart on its additional baggage page. The rates apply to Air Mauritius-operated routes only.
How to buy extra baggage
- When you book online, or in Manage my booking afterwards.
- During online check-in.
- At a local ticket office or the call centre (+230 207 7575).
- At the airport on the day you fly.
How the bag count works
A first additional bag is charged when your ticket includes one free piece and you add one. If your ticket includes more than one free piece, extra bags are charged at the second-and-more rate. Rates are for a bag up to 23 kg in Economy or 32 kg in Business, with the three sides within 158 cm. Heavier or larger bags have separate overweight and oversize charges.

Mauritius and Rodrigues by weight
Between Mauritius and Rodrigues, where the ticket shows a 15 kg allowance, excess weight costs MUR 250 per kg. A bag on this route may not weigh more than 23 kg.
