Air India is a full-service airline in the Tata Group. Tickets are sold for flights within India and abroad, as one-way, return or multi-city trips, in Economy, Premium Economy, Business or First. This page explains how the fare is built up, what each domestic fare includes, and the rules for infants and groups. Amounts are in Indian rupees (INR).
Where to buy
- Air India's website and app, its call centre, and its city and airport ticket offices. Tickets bought from travel agents or other websites are changed and refunded through them.
- The booking form lets you choose one-way, return or multi-city trips, the cabin, how many passengers, a concession type, a promo code, and the payment method. A banner on the site advertises savings of up to INR 2,000 on UPI payments.
- Maharaja Club members may pay part in points, and award tickets are sold through the same channels (see the Frequent Flyer page).
- Multi-city trips and stopovers have their own booking page, and a flight schedule page shows timetables.

Infants
- An infant without a seat pays a base fare of INR 2,000 in Economy, INR 2,500 in Premium Economy, INR 3,750 in Business and INR 5,000 in First, plus the applicable taxes and fees.
- There is no change or cancellation fee on an infant ticket.
- In a group booking, an infant who occupies a seat is treated as a child.
Group bookings
- Parties of ten or above use Air India's Groups Portal, with special fares for tours, sports teams, school trips and pilgrim groups.
- Minimum size per flight: 10 passengers in Economy, 6 in Premium Economy, 4 in Business. One child counts as an adult towards the minimum. Cabins cannot be mixed.
- Everyone travelling together must sit on a single group reservation rather than separate ones, and individuals or families cannot use group fares. Such fares cover departures up to 363 days away, and deposits are due by the deadlines set.
- A child pays the adult fare and follows adult conditions. Statutory taxes and non-airline charges are added at ticketing.
- In a group, a traveller who has not cancelled a full day before departure counts as a no-show and receives only statutory taxes. Refunds, cancellations and name updates follow the group contract.
Changing or cancelling
- A refund request is accepted for two years after issue. In the domestic tariff you become a no-show if you have not changed or cancelled 2 hours before the flight. Taxes always come back.
- GST is added to change and cancellation fees: 5% in Economy and 18% in the other cabins.
- When the airline disrupts your flight: if you are flown back to your origin on the earliest service, you get everything back; if you make your own arrangements for a cancelled sector, the base fare for that sector is returned. See the Refunds page for the full fee tables.
