The older version of this article listed per-kilogram excess baggage rates, including PHP 200 per kg on domestic routes and tables for Asian cities. Philippine Airlines now publishes its free allowance by fare family. The page that carries the excess baggage rates was not available to us, so we have removed the old rates rather than leave figures that may be wrong. Everything below is on PAL's own pages.

Basco is served by smaller turboprop aircraft, so the economy limit there is 10 kg.
Free allowance on international flights
The allowance depends on the route, the fare family and the date the ticket was sold. PAL gives separate tables for Asia, the Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. For Hong Kong, tickets sold on or after 19 November 2024 carry no free bag on Supersaver, 23 kg on Saver, 30 kg on Value, 35 kg on Flex and 40 kg on Premium Economy. Other examples from PAL's tables:
- Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang: no free bag on Supersaver, and 30 or 35 kg on the other economy fares for recent tickets.
- Melbourne and Sydney: no free bag on Supersaver for tickets sold from 26 February 2026, and 30 or 35 kg on the other fares.
- London: 30 or 35 kg for economy and 40 kg for business on tickets issued from 16 July 2018.
- Middle East (Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh) and Japan: two pieces of 23 or 25 kg in economy and two pieces of 32 kg in business. Japan's Supersaver fare has no bag on several routes for recent tickets.
Several tables have changed in the last two years and carry cut-off dates, so read the one that matches your ticket date on PAL's page.
Rules that apply everywhere
- You may check several pieces as long as the total stays within your allowance. No piece may weigh more than 32 kg (70 lb), or PAL will ask you to repack it.
- Bags above the allowance, or over the size or weight limits, are charged the excess baggage charge (EBC).
- An allowance is valid only for the journey on that ticket. A lower allowance on a connecting flight can mean an extra charge.
- If you check bags through on separate tickets, a check-through fee of USD 5 per kilo applies.
Infants and declared value
- An infant on a lap who pays at least 10% of the adult fare may check one piece up to 10 kg on routes in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, and one piece up to 23 kg to North America and Japan. A folding stroller, carry basket or car seat may also be accepted if there is space.
- Passengers can declare a value above PAL's liability limit. The fee is USD 1 for each USD 100 declared, to a maximum declared value of USD 2,500.
